Hornet Outdoors Extended Receiver Hitch Spare Tire Mount

I was able to modify this to my application for a Mercedes Sprinter class C motor home. I used the top receiver of my double hitch adapter and put this mount in backwards so it faced outward. Can’t believe nobody makes exactly what I needed, but this one worked out.

This product deserves 5 stars, but I subtracted 1 star because it did not work for my particular application. I installed it as a front-mount spare tire carrier on my Ford F150 (with a pop-top camper), but the add-on front trailer hitch I had put on (made by Curt) puts the receiver too low to the ground. That put the bottom front edge of the carrier assembly too low and too far out front to prevent it from scraping the ground when coming out of an even moderately sloped driveway. It would probably work fine as a rear mount or as a front mount on a higher clearance vehicle with a front receiver higher off the ground. It’s really sturdy and well-made, especially with the addition of the diagonal support bar holding the mounting plate to the frame. Plenty strong enough for a big steel-rimmed heavy duty E-rated truck tire. Wish it had worked for me and doubt that I can return it now with the scrape mark at the front edge.

Easy to install and adjustable Very well made. I have a light weight travel trailer & this unit weighs only 12 lbs.
