Flux Core Wire

I have used this wire for several years successfully. The wire has been reliable and versatile. There are two types of flux cored wires: gas shielded and self shielded. Gas shielded flux cored wires creates a "shelf" to hold the molten pool when welding overhead or vertically up – you still have to dodge the sparks. This product is self shielding flux cored wire and does not require external shielding gas; the weld pool is protected by gas generated when flux from the wire is burned and will run a little when welding overhead and vertically. I need such a product because it more portable -- it does not require an external gas tank – and with a little practice, I have been able to compensate for any weld drip. Self shielded flux cored wire is also ideal for welding outdoors or in windy conditions.

Awful

Couldn't keep a bead no matter how clean. There was more splatter and more flux covering everything on the metal mane I had a bad spool. Tossed it in the trash

The package box was much too large and the spool came all unwound in the box and the plastic carrier was broken... I could not use anything

    I'd buy it again

This wire has worked flawlessly for me. It's been years since I've used flux core, but my current project involves thicker steel than what I normally use. Welds are turning out great and spatter is no worse that what I remember is normal for flux core.

    Not worth buying

I didn't want to believe some of the reviews and was in the middle of a project so bought this. It was completely unusable - spatter everywhere and could not keep a pool going. Was welding 16GA square tubing. Wound up heading to Harbor Freight for the Vulcan that I normally use.

    ugh

i tried a variety of settings but despite grinding my materials to clean metal and double checking machine polarity i could not get decent welds. This, doesnt seem like a product hobart should put their name on. This has a price premium of excellent wire but does not deliver.
