Bought a box today along with 5lb 6011. Was looking for rod to burn on1/16” or even lighter gauge steel with a 76’ Lincoln Tombstone-225 amp AC.
I started with 6011 because I am very comfortable with it. Cranked it all the way down to 40 amp and I was able weld an old steel door skin, very thin, with few holes and fixable.
Swiched to 7014! Never even heard of it but ran loads of 7018. Let me just say by the time I burnt the pound, 60amp, I was welding in all positions on thin lawn furniture and the thin pipe used on folding tables. Hardly any holes at all! And even at low amps on somewhat clean steel it is crazy easy to strike.
2 things I noticed tho.
I am sure I get more, longer larger welds with 6011 per stick or pound.
Also, it does ok with paint and less with galvanized and rust compared to 6011. At low amps it penetrated clean steel but didn’t have the arc forces to blow off the galvanized.
Great stuff! A+ all position rod! Tomorrow I am going back to get at least 5lbs and am going to look at different diameters!
No, I do not recommend this product.

Best stick for small arc welders- strikes easy
9 years ago
I own a small DC arc welder ( I have the 80amp HF), this is by far the easiest stick I've used. Better penetration than 6013, strikes easier than 6011. Little if any spatter. This rod produces lots of slag- so drag don't push.
Yes, I recommend this product.
