Successful Solution to Crystals and Hairballs

I adopted 3 sibling kitties and always fed them Hill's Science Diet food. At age 5, my male cat developed urinary crystals and required surgery. I would do anything to avoid that painful situation for him. My vet placed him on Prescription c/d and said he should be on it for life. 2 problems emerged: the higher cost and how to keep his sisters from eating his special food. In an attempt to keep cost down, I had switched the girls to Purina Urinary, but one cat just could not keep it down. They all 3 had hairball issues, most unpleasant little surprises all over the house. Then, like an answer to prayer, Hill's SD Urinary/Hairball appears on store shelves! After discussion with my vet, I switched all 3 cats to this lower priced version of the prescription food, and now for over a year it is a completely successful choice for all my cats. Thank you, Hill's and Tractor Supply!

Larger kibble bites please...

My two cats have been eating this specific type of food for several years. Recently we got a bag that the kibble size is very small. My cats eat it without chewing it and are eating too much too fast. We definitely prefer the bigger kibble. They have to chew it and it slows them down. I have used hills science diet for all of my kitties for over 30 years. They are all healthy and long lived. The smaller kibble seems better suited to kittens and seniors.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Thank you for reaching out to us. We're sorry to hear about your pet’s reluctance to eat our products. While we strive to create foods which are palatable and acceptable to pets and pet parents, we recognize that preferences and needs may vary. Some suggestions to slow them down when they eat: Spread your pet’s food out on a plate or cookie sheet or place the food in the cups of a muffin pan. Divide the feeding amount into smaller meals. If you have a multiple pet household, feed your pet in an isolated area to eliminate competitive eating. We would also suggest speaking with your veterinarian about this issue. We appreciate your feedback and will pass it along to the appropriate departments.

Horrible ingredients

I don’t understand why the top ingredients are wheat, corn gluten and cellulose(filler). How do we really know what the meat byproducts are? I don’t trust this. Some stores will not even sell your product.

Thank you for your review. Our #1 value is the health of your pet, which is why we base all of our recipes and formulas on veterinary and scientific research on pet nutrition. High-quality pet food starts with understanding a pet’s nutritional needs first, such as life stage, lifestyle and health conditions. These factors help us determine the right balance of ingredients for protein, fat, carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins and minerals that will meet a pet's nutritional needs. We specifically use chicken, beef or pork lungs, spleens, or livers in our products for consistency and optimal nutrient profile. These meats are designated as "by-products" because they are part of the animals that our culture, for the most part, chooses not to consume, but they are nutritional foods. In many other countries these "by-products" are very desirable human foods. We do not include hair, horns, teeth and hoofs.

Morsels too big

I have the Gastro fiber RX food with SO index for my two older cats who have strivite crystals I found a kitten a year ago and had him on science diet kitten food because that’s what the doctor recommended and it was very tiny morsel well now that he is a year old I went with science diet urinary tract food for one to seven years old or one to five years old. I can’t remember what it says anyway the morsels are too big so I looked into Royal Canaan, which is what I really wanted and the morsels are too big again this is a year-old kitty. He can’t eat those large morsels that you guys have. The scripted version has a little round discs. That’s perfect. That seems to be like the Gastro food. it’s smaller. It’s easier to eat why they would make something so large I don’t know what to give my cat. He keeps eating the Gastro food. He’s pooping more than he should because gas your food has fiber in it and he’s getting a red bottom and this isn’t good vets. Don’t really know a lot about the brands so that’s why it’s always good to check with the brand they have more information that can help you. I just at this point don’t know what to do for him. My suggestion issue make you more so smaller for the urinary food and easier for these kitties to chew. Oh, and therefore, he won’t eat the food he tries and he just can’t do it so he gives up and goes back to the gastro

No, I do not recommend this product.
