OC (oxidized cellulose) microfibers and microporous polysaccharide hemospheres (MPH) work together to quickly dehydrate the blood. These ingredients concentrate the platelets, red blood cells, and clotting proteins, promoting quick formation of gel. This accelerates the animal's natural clotting response, posing no risk of side effects.

Special Precautions

• Do not use open and unused HemaBlock containers in any sterile procedures.
• This product comes sterilized and may not be re-sterilized.
• Contact with any solution (including saline) before hemostasis is achieved will cause hemostatic potential loss.
• Only for use in dry form.
• Do not allow contact with the eye surface.
• Efficacy and safety for use in an ophthalmic procedure has not been demonstrated.
• Removing excess dry materials can reduce the potential of product interference with normal function, as well as reduction in the potential of compression necrosis in surrounding tissue as a result of swelling.
• This product swells to maximum volume immediately when it makes contact with blood and other types of fluid.
• HemaBlock is not meant to be a substitute for careful surgical techniques or proper ligature and conventional procedure application to achieve hemostasis.
• When hemostasis has been achieved, any excess powder must be flushed by irrigation from the site of the wound, especially when used near the optic nerve or spinal cord.
• Never place or inject HemaBlock into blood vessels. Embolization or death can occur.
• Keep away from animals and children.

Directions

Inspect the integrity of the HemaBlock packaging prior to use. If damaged, do not use. For the foil sachet in the re-sealable tube, remove the tamper evident cap ring and open tube to drop sterile sachet contents on the OR tray to maintain the sterile field.
