The Heat Storm Electric Infrared Space Heater is a 1,500W ceiling/wall mounted heater that provides gentle warmth for areas where floor space is at a premium and with the flexibility to install it on a wall or the ceiling. The infrared heater provides radiant heat energy, which instantly warms people and solid objects within the beam of heat. It is ideal for patios, balconies, workshop, garage, etc. This heater produces an output of 1,500W (5,200 BTU) and is cULus electrically certified. Complete with a 1 year warranty.

Q: Is the unit switched or does it have to use remote. I want to attach it to a circuit with a thermostat in a greenhouse. The thermostat will cut power to the socket and reapply power. So the unit needs to switch on and off when plugged unplugged.

As long as it is mounted correctly as described in the owners manual, it ca be used in areas where animals live. I use one in my dog kennel. Because there is a higher concertation of dust in that area, I make sure any dust that collects on it is removed by brushing it off. I use an air compressor and hose. The Heater works great, unfortunately if you even need to replace the heat element GOID LUCK, they don't have replacements.

Heads up. Picture is of manual (plug in), many reviews stating manual and even a review by BGuin65 shows a photo of manual version. PDF User Manual has part number HS-1500-OTR but what I received was HS-1500-OTR-R. And a review by Gene Baxley shows the remote control version. There must have been a change in product. I'd confirm what you will be receiving unless it doesn't matter. It matters to me as I want to use a wall switch and not a remote control.

I'm sorry to hear that you did not get the heater you were expecting. We did have a HS-1500-OTR unit but we have upgraded recently to the HS-1500-OTR-R units with the remotes included. You can get the units that are just plug and play as refurbished units on our website but we not longer sell those new.
