Mark spots: Choose a straight line along your PVC pipe (usually 1/2-inch or 3/4-inch PVC). Space the marks evenly so your birds have room. Drill holes: Use the drill bit size recommended for your specific style of nipple (typically a 5/16-inch or 11/32-inch drill bit for threaded/push-in styles). Clear away any plastic shavings inside the pipe. Wrap threads: Wrap Teflon (plumber's) tape around the tapered threads of the nipple, or apply a thin layer of safe silicone sealant if needed to guarantee a watertight seal. Attach washers: Ensure the rubber or plastic washer/ O-ring is seated correctly on the nipple base.
