- A: Because the GroundWork Aluminum Garden Cultivator (Model GM1769 / SKU 1273578) is a manual hand tool rather than a motorized machine, it does not come with an extensive printed user or maintenance manual. Basic use, care, and maintenance guidelines include Use Instructions Push or pull the tool along garden rows or flower beds to break up soil crusts, aerate the top few inches of dirt, and uproot shallow weeds. Technique: Apply steady, controlled downward body weight and leverage on the 46-inch steel handle to help the rotating aluminum tines penetrate and turn packed soil Configuration: The tines can be adjusted or removed by rotating or loosening the locking mechanisms/switches at the base of the tines if you need to adapt the spacing for narrow rows Care and Maintenance Cleaning: Rinse or hose off dirt, mud, and organic plant debris from the aluminum tines and frame immediately after each use to prevent buildup Inspection: Check regularly for loose connections or wear around the rotating tine joints Storage: Store the tool in a clean, dry, covered location (such as a shed or garage) off the ground to protect the polypropylene (PP) grip and steel shaft from prolonged moisture and UV exposure16 days agoHelpful?

Works well when soil has low moisture content!

Has a good comfortable grip, handle is very durable but a bit short for me at 6'2" tall. The tine durability is good I suppose, a bit cheaply made for the price of the product and have quite a bit of unnecessary play/wiggle room where each time is inserted into the holder but they do have good soil penetration. however, if the soil has much moisture at all the tines tend to lock up and it takes quite a bit of effort to keep it moving but doing so while the soil has moisture is honestly pointless because it just makes a mess.. all and all it works great, far better than hand pulling weeds in my large vegetable garden all spring/summer I just make sure to work around the weather as well as my watering schedule to get it done while the ground is dry! Also just for reference, the soil locally as well as my garden is pretty much entirely sandy loam soil.
