Great for the brush around the house.

I have some thick, but not too thick, brush that pops up around the house. Machetes are long and flimsy. They get caught up on branches that I'm not concerned about. Axes are great for concentrating on one area of a branch, but not great for small branch after small branch after small branch and so on... and so on. Anyway, I love this knife. It's heavy enough to swing hard in close quarters and long enough to handle jungle-ish weedy plants. I had to buy a second because I lent mine to the old man and he made no attempt to return it. We share tools all the time, but we're not sharing this. I read another review that complained that this knife wasn't “sharp enough.” Well?... News flash,...It's not supposed to be "too" sharp. Machetes aren't very sharp. Axes aren't very sharp. The tool is designed for pulverizing brush and brush destroys finely sharpened metal. If you want it sharp then sharpen it, all cutting tools need to be maintained and honed. This tool serves it's purpose quite well right off the rack.
