He loved it, but......

I work at TSC, and we sell lots of these. I bought a couple for my adult German Shepherd. I pictured him lying on the porch chewing on it for hours. I was wrong. He used his strong jaws to completely consume it in about 45 minutes. I watched him the whole time, and he chewed it up in very small pieces, didn't swallow any big ones. He clearly enjoyed it, but I'm wondering if it is healthy for him?

We bought 2 of these bones, gave each our our dogs one. Both became violently ill. One needed to go to the vet. These bones splinter horribly!

Made Our Dogs Sick — Broke Into Dangerous Fragment

We purchased this bone as a reward after bathing our dogs and letting them pick out their own treat. What we expected to be a safe, long-lasting chew quickly turned into a serious negative experience. The bone broke down into fragments very fast, and by the next day both of our dogs were sick and vomiting. Afterward, I read through the reviews and was shocked to see how many similar experiences other dog owners have reported. Knowing that now, I honestly don’t understand how this product is still being sold. Based on our experience, we strongly do NOT recommend this product!!!

These will kill your dog

shame on Tractor Supply for still selling these. They are incredibly dangerous due to the amount of splintering. These are going to kill someone’s dog. We just got off the phone with our vet as both our dogs were given these bones and unfortunately consumed MANY splintered pieces. Now we are on damage control for the 48hr hope these bones don’t cause an intestinal puncture or blockage. EXTREMELY irresponsible of Tractor Supply to continue to sell these.

Our dog had this in splinters in under 10 minutes. Not safe for big dogs. The mfr website says not for dogs over 30 lbs. This information should probably be on both the label on the item and on the TSC website.
