Steering wheel broke off

This thing was a lot of fun. It was zippy and fun to drive. But the steering system has major quality problems the most major of which was that THE ENTIRE STEERING WHEEL BROKE OFF and my son almost crashed as a result.
We had a problem with the steering within the first week of owning it where the steering got very stiff and the wheel was difficult to turn. I had it fixed under warranty and they said that the pinion that connects to the rack had jammed up and they reassembled it. The the problem came back at around 200 miles/4 months. But it was still drivable and my son was driving it and the steering wheel came off in his hands and he almost crashed. The plate that connects the steering wheel to the steering rod sheered off all together.
Other quality issues:
The front tires are nearly bald after 200 miles. (We mostly drive it in the street.)
The seatbelts are poor quality. They didn't stay tight and were difficult to adjust. I upgraded ours.
The parking brake works but is a little difficult to use. You have reach past your feet to engage it.
Unfortunately to switch from eco mode (15 mph) and sport mode (25 mph) you have to use the app. It was glitchy and I had to try several times to get the bluetooth connection to sync.
I am super bummed because it was a lot of fun. I will work with their warranty team to see about getting a refund or getting it fixed.

The go kart is very well made and the batteries are heavy which is a good thing. The only downside was it came crated up not put together. I’m pretty handy and had no problems putting it together but I was under the impression that it would be assembled. So be ready to turn some wrenches. It has a tool kit but I used my own tools. My young grandkids love it, I may have a future NASCAR driver. One suggestion leave it set in the slower speed until they get used to it. This kart has earned its nick name “Dodge Go Green” for its color and its speed.
