I’m an aircraft MX by trade, but that inevitably is followed by “can you help me fix my car”? And most times I can, but as cars get more advanced I have found myself shackled by not having the appropriate tech to do the job, even on my own vehicles. This solves all those headaches for me. The functions on this device that go above and beyond. I love the ability it has to plug into the OBD and use the tablet wirelessly. Straight out of the box I just had to link up to my WiFi and I was off and running. No assembly necessary. This definitely goes beyond the cheap OBD readers you can buy that just spits out the engine code; it can diagnose and help you with repairs. It helped me narrow down the ABS code I’ve been chasing on my wife’s car for a while. Waiting on the parts now and will get to give the ABS bleed function a whirl! I think the price point is a little beyond what normal DIYers need or should pay, but I think the value is there if you’re doing a lot of work specifically on modern cars. I do love the super rugged case that it came in and the tablet itself seems pretty durable for on the go fixes. My only gripe would be the fact that we are living in an age where they’ll give you the charging cable, but no charging block. Perhaps that just means I’m old.

This product is able to be used by most people. It has functionality out side of the normal. I changed the tire pressure and the tire size on my f150 and it worked great. I also have remote start module on the way to try out installing and making the bcm communicate with it. The updates are a little slow, but that is probably a WiFi based thing. I was surprised in that this kit was a big upgrade over the smaller more portable one.

Receiving this scan tool I was very excited to start using this. I waited a little bit to review so I and others in the shop had time to work with this scanner and get some real time feedback. I work for a GM dealer so we have our supplied scan tool, however we do receive non franchise vehicles occasionally as trade ins etc. the setup on this was very fast and simple, updates took awhile which is to be expected for first time setup. The autoscan feature works excellent and pulls up VIN make and model quickly. You do have to select certain RPO codes, All special functions work great attached a video of running a simple compressor clutch test and worked perfect. Only thing that I’ve run into a problem with so far was a calibration for the front brake pad axle monitoring calibration for percentage of life left. Tried numerous times and would not accept it, used our GM/bosch MDI2 and worked first time. Overall this scanner has been great and has made things quicker overall especially viewing live data for transmission fluid temperature for level checks and TCC slip speed while test driving. And helping with flagged hours at the end of the week is always welcomed. For the money this scanner is on par if not better than the topdon, autel etc. and the three year free updates is a fantastic value in itself. I would highly recommend this product to anyone in need of a diagnostic scan tool that also allows you the ability to run tests, view live data, special functions for learning/resets and of course checking and the ability to clear DTC’s.
