Q: Is this 20 percent sevin dust

1 Answer
  • A: Here is the information we received from the vendor- "We had a 5% Sevin Dust many years ago. That percentage referred to the amount of active bifenthrin that was in the formula and at this point we have new chemistry so there’s a lower percentage, but a little bit goes a long way with new chemistry."

Product bottle not even half way full

So I get a bottle of seven dust to put on my plants before bringing them in the house soon. I remove the instructions so I can read them because it is so small to read. Yall, the bottle is not even half way full. These companies are getting over on us, like we didn't know already. It says 1 pound...this ain't 1 pound. #GardenTech shame on you.

No, I do not recommend this product.

New formula weaker than the old stuff

I've used Sevin Dust in the past to kill out yellow jackets that build behind vinyl siding. I've tried the new Sevin Dust with main ingredient Bifenthrin and it is pretty much useless against yellow jackets. I've used almost the whole pound, dusting the entrance to the nest every few days and hadn't slowed them down a bit. I ran across an old container of Sevin dust I had bought years ago that contained Carbaryl. Just one day after dusting the entrance with it, yellow jacket activity has almost come to a stop. Within a couple days a expect them to be killed out. The dust is effective in this case because the nest is hidden behind the vinyl siding where sprays can't necessarily reach, but the dust will be tracked into the nest and will eventually kill the yellow jackets. But it is only effective if the insecticide is strong enough to do the job. I'll be looking elsewhere for another product that will do the job and not waste my money.

No, I do not recommend this product.
