These lids leak both water and air

These lids do not create a proper seal, which is a huge problem for a product that is specifically designed and marketed to be air tight. To test these, I affixed 3 different ones to 3 of the food safe white buckets also bought from Harbor Freight. I watched several videos to make sure I was attaching them properly. Once they were installed, I tested the seals using various amounts of water inside the buckets. In every single case the buckets leaked BADLY. We're not talking water dripping out, we're talking water running out in a nearly continuous stream. If water can escape, then air certainly can as well. Again, I tested with various amounts of water ranging from a few cups to a full bucket -- the leaking occurred in all tests. I went searching to see if anyone else had encountered this issue, and it seems that plenty of people shared my experience, but unfortunately for many of them, they found out the hard way. Sadly, it seems that the Gamma2 screw down lids have decreased in quality significantly because those who bought them years ago report that they worked perfectly and were actually airtight. I suspect that Gamma2 has chosen to cut costs at the expense of their product. For those who don't actually need an airtight chamber, this is fine. For those who do need that, this isn't the proper product for you.

Terrible manufacturing ruins a great idea.

Great idea, terrible manufacturing. These lids are not even remotely airtight or watertight. I spent at least 10 minutes with a pocket knife cleaning up all the excess plastic that seeped through the mold so that the o-rings would have flat surfaces to seal against. I even removed the o-rings and cleaned up the grooves they sit in. I then held the bucket while my son used his entire weight and strength to tighten it. There are still significant leaks if I put a little water inside and turn it upside down. Plus, as others have noted it is very difficult to get these onto a bucket. I weigh 170 lbs and had to jump on the bucket to force the lid on. My body weight just standing on it was not enough. I had to jump/stomp on one section at a time. Ridiculous. And it looks to be impossible to remove them in one piece without ripping out your fingernails to the lip on the bucket if/when the ring finally lets go. Utterly useless for long term food preservation. I also did not appreciate the gooey sticker on the inside. I would prefer to have the adhesive mess outside my food, thanks. Not that I will be using these for food anyway at this point. Maybe if you are strong enough to install them the first time and you don't require an actual seal they would be okay for something. But there are cheaper lids that don't pretend to be airtight, so you might as well use them instead. I wish Cary or someone would make some that actually work because the idea itself is great. But the idea itself doesn't keep anyone's food dry.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Are not water tight

I had a bunch of food stored when a tornado hit. I used these lids and the plain snap on lids. Everyone bucket with these lids got water inside and ruined the contents!!! The cheap lids kept the contents dry!!!! Do not waste your money on these, they are junk!!!!!!!!!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Poor fit

This gamma lid was so difficult to place. I followed You Tube instructions, using a rubber mallet to seat the ring in place. It sealed all the way around except for one area, in which I finally got it to seat but I think the fit is poor. I can only get the screw top lid to unscrew open but am unable to screw it in place....I basically have to snap it in. The price was good but I am not impressed with the product. I bought two buckets and lids so I think I will return the other and find an alternative.
