The Freedom Feeder Bale Net is designed like a pillow case to carry an entire 110 lb. bale of forage hay. This net measures 5.5 ft. x 4 ft. and closes on the short end utilizing a red parachute cord to weave the top closed. A full 3-string bale should last an average 1000 lb. horse 5-7 days once the horse is transitioned. Comes with 2 break-away carabineers with 2 black cords for hanging. It comes in 3 mesh options: 1 in., 1.5 in., or 2 in. mesh openings. 1 Mesh openings are for insulin resistant or smaller grazing animals. We recommend that you start transition with 1.5 mesh then slow them down further using 1 mesh only if necessary. 1.5 mesh openings are the most optimal opening to mimic natural grazing and slow consumption for most horses. 2 mesh openings are intended for aggressive eaters and larger horses, and you might consider going down to 1.5 in. mesh size once the horse is transitioned. The goal of Freedom Feeder is for every horse to have high fiber, low calorie forage available 24/7. Using Freedom Feeders is a way to "free" us from meal routines and help our horses live happier, healthier, and more natural lives, think of them as "Pastures In A Net". Freedom Feeders may eliminate anxiety around meal time, reduce the likelihood of colic, and behavioral issues such as weaving, or pacing.

  • Designed like a pillow case
  • Red parachute cord weaves through the open to secure it shut
  • Hang with 2 large carabiners and black cords
  • Available in 1 in., 1.5 in. or 2 in. mesh openings

    Great Product!

My boy was diagnosed with ulcers late in 2018. We tried a slow grazer to help him have increased access to hay but he was still going long periods without feeding. When the ulcers recurred this Spring I ordered the full bale freedom feeder. He adjusted really quickly and is happy to eat hay for a while, walk away, and return later to keep eating. Happy horse and happy owner! He put on weight initially but has now learned to self regulate and has lost the excess weight and is back to baseline.

    Yes, I recommend this product.
