- A: The hay bag is well made and sturdy for hay and withstands the daily rigors of a horse pulling on it. Whether it would be good to hold firewood would depend on how much firewood you put in it and what you do with it after the firewood is in it. - A: Hay nets are safe to use for horses. Occasionally, a horse will bite through the net as they are learning how to use a slow feeder, but after they learn how to use the hay net, that should not be a concern.8 years agoHelpful?

BIG and Fantastic

Have had one of these going on 3 years which I feed out of all winter, had to get a second one to accommodate a new second horse. They hold up VERY well and hold VERY close to an entire (regular) square bale if you want it tied up tight (I only have to take out a flake or 2) or smaller squares they easily fit entirely. LOVE them and hope they never stop making them... (Maybe I should buy extras just in case)

Does not hold a bale, barely 4 flakes! On top pf that, it broke after one use. I will be returning this immediately. Dont waste your money. Its not at all what it is advertised to be and is poor quality. In addition, the 1" squares are toi small. My horses got frustrated and stopped eating.

Works great! I put it in a water tank and there is virtuously no hay loss. I did buy a different one after this and I like the latch on the string best with this one!

No complaints here. Easy to fill, easy to hang, handles multiple horses tugging on it. It holds closer to half a bale, not a whole, so I bought two.

Worth it to me

This turned out to be awesome, doesn’t collect dirt, sturdy and fits all the small square bales I’ve tried so far (45 lb or so). Kind of like a giant slow feed hay net and less work to not have to put hay out a few times a day, with this net a bale is lasting 2-2.5 days for me.
