Veterinarians may prescribe Flexprofen Flavored Tab to dogs over the age of 6 weeks old. Flexprofen is an osteoarthritis medication formulated to control joint pain and inflammation. It's also sometimes given to dogs postoperatively to help keep them comfortable and pain-free following a soft tissue or joint surgery. Flexprofen is available by prescription only and comes in a palatable, flavored tablet form to be administered to your dog orally. How it Works
The mechanism of action of carprofen, like that of other NSAIDs, is believed to be associated with the inhibition of cyclooxygenase activity.
Special Precautions
Keep away from children. For treatment of dogs only. If consumed by a human, be sure to contact a doctor. Do not give carprofen to dogs that have previously demonstrated adverse an adverse reaction to it.
Overdose Information
Contact your closest emergency pet hospital.
Side Effects
Gastrointestinal: Vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, inappetence, melena, hematemesis, gastrointestinal ulceration, gastrointestinal bleeding, pancreatitis.
Storage
Store at 20° to 25°C (68° to 77°F); excursions permitted between 15° and 30°C (59° and 86°F).
Tips
It is highly advised that dogs are tested and examined before being prescribed NSAIDs. These tests should work to determine critical hematological and serum biochemical starting point information before and intermittently during administration. These tests are crucial before treatment of NSAIDs.
