Famotidine is an anti-ulcer medication. It is part of what is known as the histamine receptor-2 blocker class. The stimulation of stomach cells and their cell membranes occurs because of H-2 receptors, which leads to gastric acid secretion. Ulcers are able to heal using this medication, as it prevents the secretion of gastric acid through the H-2 receptors being blocked.

Special Precautions

Animals taking Ketoconazole or Digoxin may experience interaction when taking this drug. Use caution with Famotidine if your pet has kidney, liver, or heart disease, or is pregnant. Consult a veterinarian before your pet takes Famotidine.

Side Effects
