The Excede Sterile Suspension is a ready-to-use, injectable antibiotic for treating cattle and horses. It's effective against a variety of bacterial strains and is often prescribed for the treatment of foot rot, bovine respiratory disease and lower respiratory tract infection. Depending on the animal and its condition, Excede should be injected either subcutaneously or intramuscularly. FDA approved.How it Works
This ready-to-use suspension contains ceftiofur in the crystalline free acid form. This broad-spectrum antibiotic belongs to the cephalosporin class. It is active against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, including strains that produce B-lactamase. Ceftiofur is a bactericidal antibiotic works by inhibiting synthesis of the cell wall.

Tips
This formula is recommended for:
- Treating BRD in cattle, including pneumonia and shipping fever, caused by Histophilus somni, Pasteurella multocida, and Mannheimia haemolytica in lactating dairy, non-lactating dairy, and beef cattle
- Controlling BRD in lactating dairy, non-lactating dairy, and beef cattle who are highly susceptible to BRD caused by Histophilus somni, Pasteurella multocida, and Mannheimia haemolytica
- Treating foot rot (interdigital necrobacillosis) in lactating dairy, non-lactating dairy, and beef cattle caused by Porphyromonas levii and Fusobacterium necrophorum
- Treating lower respiratory infections in horses associated with susceptible Streptococcus equi ssp. zooepidemicus strains

- Available in 100 mL and 250 mL vials

Ceftiofur Crystalline Free Acid
Not for oral administration. The usual dosage for cattle is 1.5 ml per 100 lb. body weight, given by SQ injection. Horses usually receive 2 doses, 4 days apart, at the rate of 1.5 ml per 100 lb. body weight, given by intramuscular (IM) injection.
