Following a 7 to 10 day acclimation period, average consumption should be 1 to 2 pounds for mature cattle and horses with unrestricted forage supplies. Position the blocks 50 to 75 feet from loafing, feeding and watering areas. Some repositioning of blocks may be necessary as animals become acclimated to the presence of the blocks. Move blocks closer to increase consumption; further away to decrease consumption. If over consumption occurs for more than two weeks and repositioning of blocks does not correct the situation, remove blocks and evaluate the overall feeding program. DO NOT ALLOW STARVED ANIMALS FREE ACCESS TO THIS BLOCK.

Great product and great price for the benefits

I have used this tub for many years now (at least 6 years!) having fed it to my cattle when I had them and my horses out in the pasture. It is great for cutting feed costs down and when hay supply is of good quality, I don't have to feed grain during those times hardly at all. The part I love about this tub is that it is not messy like other tubs are. When the horses lick and chew on it, they don't get a mess all over their faces and then rub it on you when you go catch them...which is a HUGE plus!

Horses won't eat it

I have been feeding these for probably 10 years. The old formula was a light brown color and my horses would fight over it.
This new formula is a dark brown almost black color and none of my 25 horses will touch it. This tub has been sitting out in an overgrazed pasture for nearly a year and not a single horse has touched it. I would recommend TSC revisit the texture as well as the ingredients, as this tub had a bad smell from day one and is hard as a rock. I have been looking at the tubs at different stores in hopes of finding one of the lighter colored ones, but all the ones I am finding are the same color and have a very bad smell to them. These larger tubs (200lb) are not made the same as the smaller ones that hang in the stalls from my experience. My horses will eat the smaller tubs.
