Works Great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this wheel to cut the bottom off of a very large terra cotta pot to create a ring in my planter bed to contain saffron crocuses. The blade had no trouble at all cutting through the 1/4" wall of the pot and staying true on the cut line.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great Blade, Limited Depth of Cut

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Diamond Tile Cutting Wheel (US540) is a diamond-coated cutting wheel designed for cutting wall and floor tile, as well as tile, masonry, and cement backer board. It is one of the many “cutting wheels” (i.e. saw blades) designed for use on both the corded (US40) and cordless (US20v) models of the Dremel Ultra-Saw. Dremel also carries abrasive masonry blades (US520) for this tool, but they do not last nearly as long as the diamond tile cutting wheel. The corded Dremel Saw-Max (SM20) actually uses a smaller (3-inch) blade (SM series), while the Ultra-Saw takes a slightly larger (3.5-inch) blade (US series). However, the depth of cut is the same for both saws (3/4 inches); one of the drawbacks of the Saw-Max is its limited depth of cut, and unfortunately, this is the case with the Ultra-Saw as well. The saw itself is powerful enough to handle a range of materials, but the depth of cut on the 3.5-inch blades limits its use to thinner materials. Anyone who wants to invest in the full line of blades and accessories for the Ultra-Saw should keep in mind that several other blades are available for purchase beyond diamond tile wheel (US540), including the wood and plastic carbide wheel (US500), the metal cut-off wheel (US 510), the abrasive masonry blade (US520), the metal-cutting wheel (US550), the wood and plastic flush cut carbide wheel (US600), and the diamond surface prep abrasive wheel (US410).

Yes, I recommend this product.

Cutting Corners

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the cut off wheel and noticed that the packaging and the wheel had conflicting information on them. The wheel said the max speed was 20,000 RPM and the packaging said 15,000 RPM . It is a moot point. I planned to use it with my Ultra Saw. Its speed is not adjustable. I had some old square bath tiles that would be a good test for the wheel. I wanted to cut the squares into octagons. I made a form to hold the tiles and provide a guide to make a consistent cut on all of the tiles. The cut-off wheel performs nicely and cut the tiles clean and without the mess of having to use water as a coolant.

Yes, I recommend this product.
