Excellent Value! As an avid DIY homeowner, I tend to perform most small maintenance and repair tasks around my property that others would seek a handyman service for. This reciprocating saw is not advertised as a compact design, but after using it for over a year, I can attest that it is relatively compact to fight into tight spaces. I've put this saw to work on HVAC and plumbing tasks. For example, because of the invaluable four position blade change mechanism, I was able to use this tool to cut out some rusted water closet (toilet) bolts holding my toilet bowl and water tank together, when I needed to replace the mechanical flush parts. I also used this saw to trim down HVAC tubing above my cabinet mounted microwave when I changed out my microwave. The tubing was a little too long from the previous two microwaves that had been installed. I also used this saw to cut the dryer vent HVAC tubing when I replaced the tubing recently. For these tasks the saw worked well. I use this saw almost weekly to cut down large cardboard boxes from items delivered to my home. Other miscellaneous tasks I've employed this saw for have been cutting down 3/8 inch diameter rebar, wood furniture demolition, wood pallet demolition, cutting 2x4's to length, as well as plastic wheel track for my sliding patio screen door.
There is some felt vibration when using this saw, but that is no different than the four other reciprocating saws I own from Dewalt and Milwaukee. This saw comes with the four position blade change mechanism which is exclusive to Dewalt reciprocating saws. Also the shoe is both pivoting and adjustable for length. There is no LED light to illuminate the work surface; for those that tend to work in dark areas you will have to plan accordingly. This is an older model for Dewalt so it is not brushless. However, it doesn't lack power to perform various tasks around the home or the jobsite. Battery life will be dependent upon the amp hour battery used with this saw. I recommend a 4 amp hour battery (DCB204) or greater (including Flexvolt batteries) for this saw. It is rather lightweight and I have used it one handed before, so I don't believe weight is an issue with this saw.
Overall, this is a great saw for the homeowner and professional alike. This saw can usually be found for $100 or less from various retailers. This makes this saw and excellent value and I highly recommend it.
