Clematis 'H.F. Young' is a deciduous and compact climber with huge, 6-9" blossoms. This cultivar has single, soft blue-violet saucer-shaped blooms with cream anthers. These early summer flowers are borne on side-shoots growing from last year's shoots. Additional blooms may be borne on the tips of the present year's growth. Leaves are divided into 3 widely or regularly lance-shaped leaflets, 4 to 6 inches long. Clematis are beautiful along fences and arbors. A choice site is key to the success of establishing this perennial. Clematis prefer part shade, and their roots should be kept cool and moist. This vine grows best in a fertile, well-drained, alkaline soil. Clematis take a bit of time to develop their complex root systems so be patient with them and you'll be rewarded with gorgeous blooms year after year! I bought one took it home to transfer into a pot to establish it before planting outside. When I opened the product there was bugs everywhere in the soil. I returned the plant and grabbed a second one off the shelf. Checked before leaving the store and that one had bugs in the soil. Grabbed the last one on the shelf checked before leaving store. No bugs in soil but plant has yet to even show signs of life. It's been in a pot sitting in direct sunlight only watering when soil it dry and still no life. Noone seems to have this specific clematis in stock. I'm very sad and disappointed. Brand new homeowner and can't even build a beautiful garden.

Great product for impatient gardeners!

DeGroot products are great since the plant is already established. I had leaves sprouting within a few days of planting! I am very excited to get some clematis flowers. They had the exact variety I wanted and I could not find it anywhere else locally.
