We have never been afraid to break with convention. That's why, when everyone else in our industry made the smallest, flimsiest, dainty little knives that they could, we released a series of blades that could only be described as one thing - pocket swords! The Cold Steel Espada was inspired by the classical Navaja knives of Spain, but was utterly modern in both appearance and materials. These mega-folders took the market by storm! A design collaboration between custom knife maker Andrew Demko and Cold Steel President Lynn C. Thompson, our Espadas are available in two sizes to suit both the bold and the boldest of individuals! Despite their imposing size, our Espada are expertly designed to fit comfortably and discreetly in your pocket. You'll soon forget that you are carrying such a large and impressive blade.Equipped with the patented Demko Thumb Plate, the Large and Extra Large Espadas can be snagged on your pocket, opening the knife as you draw it - and opening in the blink of an eye!The Espada's beautiful blades are made from premium American S35VN Alloy Steel - chosen for its ability to not only take a super-fine cutting edge, but to hold it for an exceptionally long time. They also feature expertly polished G-10 scales and mirror polished 7075 Aluminum bolsters and frame. Each Espada is equipped with our patented Tri-Ad locking mechanism, proven to have amazing shock resistance and strength. In our own notoriously brutal product testing, the XL Espada was not only capable of holding 600lbs of free hanging weight, but we even used it to support a hanging engine block!

  • Handle Length/Material: 9 1/4 in. Long Polished G-10 with Polished Bolster & Frame
  • Additional Features: Ambidextrous Pocket / Belt Clip
  • Locking Mechanism: Tri-Ad Lock

Great Knife! *Requires modification for safety!*

I bought this blade a few weeks ago. I am a martial artist with a focus on historical martial arts. I was looking for a modern version of a historical navaja, and this fit the bill perfectly. While technically on the small side for the historical blade, this is a huge knife! It fits in the hip pocket of about 2/3rds of the pants I typically wear. Traditionally it was carried in a sash which allows for larger blades. I have only one negative, although it is a serious one. The S35vn steel is part of the reason I purchased it. I live in a humid, swampy area and I have had rust show up on nice knives after a day of carrying them and not using them. This steel will definitely hold up well in this environment! But this steel is very hard. So hard that the 90 degree angle on the back of the blade can cut skin. I was feeling it thinking “ wow this almost sharp enough to cut OUCH!”. Really, I cut myself on this knife while it was closed. I don’t have a blue collar job anymore, but my hands aren’t exactly baby soft, either. So I took a few minutes on my sharpening stone to, ironically, dull the back of this knife. And now it is exactly what I wanted. So close to a perfect knife, but I literally drew blood without opening it, so I have to go four stars. I’ll also warn people that the inertia of the blade is very different than most folding knives when opening it one handed. Take care to learn the blade before getting to crazy with it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

ESPALDA XL EVERYDAY CARRY

I've the Espalda XL for many years and I love this. I live in California and was recently pulled over by police. I legally carry so they asked if I had any other weapons and when they saw my Espalda XL I informed them it was to prevent someone from taking my gun. I thought i was going to have to buy another one but they gave it back and sent me on my way. 😁
