The Cold Steel's Trench Hawk may well be the perfect antidote to the raw terror of eyeball-to-eyeball combat in the confined spaces of a trench, bunker, alley or narrow hallway. All it takes is one stroke from either the vicious cutting edge or its brutal wedge-shaped spike to end the fight, and if the party starts at longer range the Trench Hawk's twin "business ends" make an accurate throw a breeze, since there's double the chance of a lethal hit. When used defensively, the Trench Hawk's cutting edge and spike also provide a big advantage, as either can be used for hooking or trapping and, like our Spike Hawk, their combined length can be used to parry or block an incoming blow.

Going in my hip for the trenches

Great. Going on my hip for the trenches. Definitely an upper hand over a knife and can be grabbed in a hurry.

Yes, I recommend this product.

very well balanced

The first thing I noticed using this, was the balance. Its incredibly well balanced for a tomahawk. It swings light and fast in the hand and recovers quickly. It has a good sturdy edge, and cuts well. As a weapon, it's devastatingly effective. As a camp axe, it works but it's not your best option. Only reason I say this is the way the handle attaches to the head. If you try to split wood with it, the handle catches the wood, takes the brunt of the blow, and doesn't allow the axe to pass through easily, as it would with a traditional solid metal design. For pretty much any other purpose, it works well. Overall a great design and will see a lot of use for me. I'd have given it 5 stars if I could split small logs with it. Over the years I've purchased quite a few cold steel products and I've never been disappointed. This one is no exception.

Yes, I recommend this product.

A Very Good Investment

This is the best tomahawk I ever owned. I like it better than the more expensive ones because it's more practical. A steel shaft can break and then you're looking for a welder. Wood handles eventually crack, warp swell and chip. With the trench hawk all yiu have to do is order a new shift. The 1055 steel is a bit softer than some others but for all practical purposes it's good enough. This was a very good investment.

Amazing tomahawk

Amazing tomahawk; heavier than I expected and balanced differently than the other tomahawks (with wooden shafts) I have bought from other vendors. Very sharp and useful blades. I bought it on the recommendation of an Airborne Ranger who actually who used a previous version in combat. In self-defense or combat situations, I would be well armed with this weapon.
