The Cold Steel Heavy Duty Cane: my BEST FRIEND!

I have owned two of these aluminum shaft canes, and they are SO POPULAR that people have stolen both of them out of my shopping cart at major grocery stores. While I wait for availability of the canes to return at Cold Steel, I am working on a method of attaching my new cane to my belt so it is NOT LOST AGAIN!. The weight and heft of this cane is ideal and provides a much better defensive opportunity than the wooden canes I have used in the past! I now require a cane whenever I am 'out and about' after I underwent a bilateral lumbar laminectomy in December of 2022 and require one to provide additional balance support to counteract the leg dizziness I experience daily. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHEN THESE ARE AVAILABLE AGAIN!!!! Henry Goodman

Standard Use: OK. Self Defence: I'm not sure.

Optically maybe the most unobtrusive cane by Cold Steel so far (apart from the moments when TSA checks if there's a sword in it). That's the good thing. But ... contrary to Cold Steel's other canes and walking sticks there's no proof video. I don't trust the stability of the thin aluminium shaft in an emergency situation yet, so I bought this cane only for my collection and for travelling via plane. I wish they would go old school and make the Heavy Duty Cane from polypropylene (or fiber reinforced nylon like the United Cutlery cane). The cane would be heavier but still light enough for good usability in every situation. I'd recommend the Heavy Duty Cane to everyone that searches for a walking aid if I could be sure it will work in an self-defence situation (then I would give the full 5 star rating without hesitation). See, people trust their live to your stuff, Cold Steel. Please show them that they're right.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Heavy Duty?

As a walking aid it's ok if you don't have big hands. As a defensive weapon (and that's why we buy Cold Steel canes) I'm not sure ... I don't trust the rather thin aluminium shaft. If Cold Steel would injection mold this cane from one solid piece of Polypropylene, it would be perfect! And maybe even cheaper in production. So please could we get a heavy duty version of that - probably - not so heavy duty cane, StickMan?

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Heavy Dury after Modifications

I purchased this cane to give to a friend as a birthday gift. He is shorter than me so, as others have done, I cut the cane down with a pipe cutter. I was concerned that it would be too lightweight so, before reinstalling the rubber tip, I packed the interior tube with dry sand and added a small epoxy-sand plug at the bottom. This doubled the weight of the original cane and will make it even stronger since it won't fail now by kinking. Being filled with sand has turned this cane into a very formidable impact weapon as well as a very solid support. I also added a paracord lanyard using the existing hole in the handle. It is truly a HEAVY DUTY cane after these modification. I am sure that my friend will love it. Indeed, it is now so nice, I may have to buy another and upgrade it too for my own use!

    Yes, I recommend this product.
