Cisapride is a gastrointestinal pro-motility medication that veterinarians may recommend for dogs, cats, and certain other animals.
Appearance: Blue, circular, bisected tablet, containing dark blue speckling.

Special Precautions
Keep cisapride and all drugs out of reach of children pets. Cisapride is a prescription drug and should be used according to your veterinarian's directions, and it should only be given to the animal for which it was prescribed. Do not give this medication to a person. Cisapride should not be given to animals that are allergic to it, or drugs like it. Cisapride should be used with caution in pets with liver disease or heart abnormalities, and in pets that may be pregnant or nursing.
Side Effects
Be sure to discuss any side effects your pet experiences while taking cisapride with your veterinarian immediately. The most common side effects of cisapride are vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain. Topical preparations containing cisapride (such as transdermal gels, ointments, creams, etc.) may also cause irritation at the site of application
Overdose Information
Overdose of cisapride may cause more severe reactions similar to those listed previously in the side effects section. If you suspect your pet or another animal was accidentally overdosed or has eaten this medication inadvertently, contact your veterinarian or the A.S.P.C.A.'s Animal Poison Control Center at 888.426.4435. Always bring the prescription container with you when you take your pet for treatment. If you or someone else has accidentally ingested this medication call the National Capital Poison Center at 800.222.1222.
