Chapin's 8201A, 80-pound residential poly salt spreader is made to handle winter conditions. Designed to hold up to 80 pounds of your preferred brand of ice melt or halite. It's easy to set up with the flip-up, U-shaped handle, very little assembly required. Set the adjustable gate dial and baffles, grip the ergonomic handle, and start spreading. The spiked auger break ups chunks, minimizing clumps and the 12-inch pneumatic tires give you support over icy and uneven driveways and sidewalks. This unit is not recommended for rock salt, sand, lime or mixes. Made in the USA with global materials and backed by Chapin's 2-year limited warranty.

- 80-pound poly hopper: weather-resistant, blue poly hopper holds up to 80 pounds of material; powder-coated steel frame and an enclosed gearbox to withstand the elements
- Made in the USA with global materials: designed and produced in the USA with US-based customer service and technical support, located at Chapins home base in Batavia, NY; backed by Chapins 2-year limited warranty
- Ergonomic, U-shaped handle: very little assembly needed with the flip-up, U-shaped handle, it simply flips up when removed from the box; comfortable to grip with gloves and push while spreading ice melt and salt products
- Adjustable settings: use the gate dial to change the gate opening based on the particulates; recommended for use with salt, halite, potassium chloride, magnesium chloride and calcium chloride (small and pelletized particulates); use the baffles to direct where you spread your product
- Spiked auger: rugged, plastic spiked auger breaks up clumps so your preferred salt or ice melt can easily flows through the gate opening
- Tires and accessories: wide-tread, 12-inch pneumatic tires to move over icy ground; rain/snow cover included to keep the hopper protected while youre working

Q: I own your Chapin 80 lb salt spreader and always empty the salt out of it when finished using it and I hose it out but it rust and seizes up/rust and won't turn .. has to be taken apart and clean out the gear box .. how can I avoid this problem ??

- A: Hi, the approximate assembly time for the Chapin 8201A 80 lb. Residential Salt Spreader is 5-10 minutes. The only assembly required is bolting the handle in place with the provided nuts and bolts and threading the auger to the shaft inside of the hopper. Can't use it with rock salt no thanks

Remember if you could assemble it yourself do that I bought one that was pre-assembled because they assemble them at the store it was missing the sifting grate, cover and one of the augers and when I mentioned it to one of the team members they swore up and down that none of the things that were missing were included in the Box and of course there was none to exchange and it is for ice melt or pellets not rock salt rock salt will not go through it because the construction of it won't allow rock salt to flow through it so if you're getting it to use for rock salt you might as well forget it for the price of it in my experience I had I don't recommend it you're better off with a bucket and half of milk jug
