Carprieve (Carprofen) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve joint pain and inflammation caused by conditions like osteoarthritis, arthritis, hip dysplasia, or post-surgery recovery. It also acts as an effective fever reducer. Carprieve (Carprofen) Caplets can be prescribed for dogs older than 6 weeks.How it Works
Carprofen is an NSAID, meaning it works by inhibiting the activity of cyclooxygenase.
Special Precautions
Keep this and all medication away from animals and children. ONLY use this medication for dogs. Never use this medication for nursing or pregnant animals or in cats.
Do not use this medication if your dog previously showed a hypersensitivity to it.
Overdose Information
Contact your closest emergency pet hospital.
Side Effects
Potential adverse reactions of Carprieve include:
- Changes in behavior
- Seizures
- Incoordination
- Lethargy
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Decrease in appetite
- Increase in water consumption
- Increase in urination
- Tarry or dark stool
- Pale gums from anemia
- Yellowing of gums whites of eye or skin from jaundice
If your pet exhibits any signs of not tolerating this medication, stop administering Carprieve and call your veterinarian right away. In most adverse reactions, patients recovered when symptoms were observed quickly and medication was stopped and veterinary intervention began.
When giving your dog an NSAID, always schedule follow up appointments with your veterinarian.

Store in a dry and cool environment. 15° to 30°C (59° to 86°F).
