This is a solid, stable, heavy duty hinge. We were looking got a simple sturdy gate hinge for a wooden gate. This fit the bill perfectly. Our gate is approximately 3.5 feet high, and just over 5 feet wide. Not a heavy gate, but we felt the 1/2 inch hinge would not quite fit the bill. What we really liked about this hinge beyond it's strength, was the flexibility and compact design. This gate swings between the gate and the fence, and both are at different levels. The compact design made for minimal space between the hinge side of the gate and the fence/deck, and the flexibility allowed the gate to move between the 2 levels smoothly. The one thing you have to know is that there are 2 hinges to a pack. don't make the same mistake I did and buy 2 thinking the price is per hinge. I am glad I did get two though, as I will likely use the other on a future project.

Exactly what I needed and very heavy duty. I needed them for heavy gates.
