Bighorn Explorer 400 4x4 4WD EFI Side by Side UTV

Got this 2.5 yrs ago and wish I hadn’t. Very loud, HOT, hard to steer, parking brake won’t go off and gears get stuck sometimes. I definitely don’t see it going 40mph as stated.

Excellent machine for the buck

Just pay the extra money for a name brand. I watched my grandfather deal with issues on his 2022 model since it was brand new. They never run right and quality is as cheap as they could make it. All corners were cut. Smallest gauge wire possible was used, cheapest sensors, cheapest pcm, cheapest cooling system, etc. the oil filter on this engine is laughable if you could even call it that. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this!

We really wanted to like this. In fact, we did - at first. However, less than a year old and with only 22 hours on it, it died. To be told this is a common problem with them that there is an starter issues that Bighorn knows about, and has been going on for years, but they continue to build them with the bad starters - what - are they using up the shipping container and hoping these die after the warranty runs out? Issue number 2, yes, it was covered under the warranty, but, there are so few places that will work on these, so we had to trailer it two hours to a mechanic. They had it for 3 weeks, gave it back, and messed with the front hood and didn’t relatch it so it blew off goign down the highway! Of course, they tried to blame it on us. SO, Bighorn is willing to replace the hood, but it’s back ordered. Depending on who you talk to, anywhere from 6 weeks to 8 month! And, because all the electrical is under the hood, you can’t use it. We are close to 2 months down and we are paying for it on our credit card each month. Bighorn says they are going to make it right, and they will call us back. But they never do. On top of this fiasco, the repair shop did a very bad job. To fix this issue, they have to take apart the exhaust and some engine parts. So I get it back twice as loud as it was when they got it, the exhaust rattles, and the entire machine shakes like crazy and there is this weird knocking noise at idle. Oh, and it take 2 or 3 times for it to start and stay running, and anything over 3 MPH causes the shake, rattle and roll to go crazy. And, now it also has no power. And we asked the repair place to adjust the shift lever, as it was really hard to get it into park, and now it doesn’t get into park at all. Like I said, the repair place says it’s my fault - yeah - right - Bighorn is doing nothing despite promises, and I just want my money back. Oh, on top of this, I was told by one of the name brand sellers of UTV’s that thesse have ‘no value’ as they are not listed on JD Power. Wel,, there you go. Don’t waste your money. There is a reason these are cheap.

Good buy for the price... Not crazy about the CVT transmission, but does the job.

This is a great vehicle for the price. It is a little loud, but there are ways to help quiet it down. I found that it’s not the muffler—it’s the motor enclosure that creates most of the noise. Overall, my wife is very pleased with ourExplorer 400.

I ordered my Bighorn Explorer at the store, but did it online. My order was set. I walked out of the store 20 minutes later. They canceled my order. When I called they told me it was because I had a California address. My order was placed in Nevada and would be shipped to Nevada. Why would they cancel my order if I lived in California if it’s being delivered to Nevada? Then to top it off, the address was changed to Nevada. The order was placed again and my delivery date was four days later. Not really happy with what’s going on at Tractor Supply online.

I had it loved it than it quit died so sad

I bought this because tractor supply usually sells good products. I just bought it and maybe have 25 hours on it. I am struggling with this to get it into gear. Most times it wont go into park. The gear a shift cover keeps fallimg off. The bench seat gets really hot to the point of uncomfortable

it is perfect , I love the way it operates, handles , and that it has a metal dump bed , not plastic !

Worth the money Yes, loud Yes over 11miles Hour sound increases as your speed, Turning radius not the greatest, compared to golf cart, Putting in park need to move shifter up and down occasionally, No instructions for installing window one can figure it out. Over all very satisfied Has a lot of extras Would like to see TS offer silencer as an add on the one that would work best for this unit.

Have had it for 10 days and I have really enjoyed it. As some have said it is a little loud ,but overall I feel its just what I wanted.

For what we wanted around the farm works great - it is a little loud but not as loud as other reviewers stated. Handles well, for the price it is exactly what we were looking for to handle daily chores

I like the fuel injection and docs brakes it need electric assist steering

Junk overpriced. It was $7000 in 2019.

It is a good looking unit. Brand new start up, hesitates and backfires even after lengthy warm up. It is SUPER loud and cab heats up quickly as the vent is right under the seat. Probably great for winter. The EFI carb doesn’t seem to be working well. It lags even for a golf cart. The brakes are terrible and practically standing on the pedal to stop is necessary. I’ll have to try bleeding them on my own. The manual does not show any oil change or maintenance illustration.

We purchased this in August 2024. Within the first three months and just at 50 miles the starter went out. We contacted their warranty company and dropped it off in November. By March we still did not have our vehicle back. We finally had to make legal promises in order to get them to have us drive four hours to pick it up and drop it off at another location. Then we got it back after two months. They did have this one picked up and dropped off a brand new one. The brand new one lasted 30 days and only got 20 miles on it. It has now been broken for over a month and they do not have the parts to have it fixed. We've gone a month with no communication. They finally communicated and they received the parts but never informed us and we are still waiting for it to go to warranty. We have a 10 acre farm and a sanctuary and are having to walk around to take care of all of our animals because we paid over $12,000 for this piece of equipment that we cannot use and I'm not sure about you but I don't have another $12,000 to throw away. I will be contacting my attorney today. I realize this is the only way that I'm going to get this resolved. But I advise you to not purchase this piece of equipment and do not work with Big Horn because their warranty companies are not even legit, they cannot get parts, they do not communicate, and clearly, as you can see between two units. They both broke down immediately.

I like it except putting it in park and getting it out of park can be annoying at times when it doesn't want to go in or out. Also I would like the gas pedal further out from the seat.

Great UTV with a lot of get up and go.

The parking brake light stays on all the time.its a little louder than I thought it would be. Other than that nice UTV.

Just took delivery today. So far so good. Much louder operation than competitive unit

Overall I like this UTV. However, the noise level is much too high and I will try to quiet it down some. Also, I don't like the fact that it doesn't have an engine slowdown feature when going down relatively steep hills. Have to constantly use the brake. I must say that all the folks at the Mt. Airy, N.C.Tractor Supply were great.They were very couteous and handled any problems or requests I had regarding this purchase.

Be careful when you're in 4 wheel drive and you're on blacktop It will cause you to roll over And cause bodily harm Tried to talk to them To get a new roll bar windshield No luck I wish they would just take it back and give me a new 1
