Used the torch to cut a lug nut off my atv. Was a little finicky to get lit but got the job done.

I had one of these for 15 years. While it chews through tanks, it did the job. In January, it finally failed. The oxygen valve simply stopped working. No problem, tools don't last forever. So I went and grabbed another. Immediate problems the new one, the oxygen valve is incredibly sensitive, TOO sensitive, to find the proper setting. When you do fine that particular setting and start your job, in a few minutes the oxygen starts to hunt, going in either direction, usually decreasing. It makes working on your task, impossible. Okay, so perhaps I just got a dud. I struggled and finished the job and exchanged the torch set for a new one. It has since sat in the box. 6 months later, I have the next job to do, a small brazing job on metal rod and this one too has a faulty oxygen valve?!? Very disappointed and just not worth the hassle in my opinion. I have an oxy/acetalize torch set and I'm just going to refill those tanks. This isn't worth the cost/hassle if you can't trust/replace the low quality values.

I bought one these kits about a week ago. I baffled that Bernzomatic has the gall to sell these. The fine adjustments needed are nearly impossible to achieve with the cheap valves and if you do get a workable mix, the valves wander changing everything mid-braze. I'm pretty certain you could hack a Bic lighter and have something more reliable than this torch kit.

This is my second torch. My old one is 40 years old and the Oxygen knob broke and rubber hose was hard as a rock. Improvement: increase the number turns (currently 0.1 on propane and decrease Oxygen 6.0) to obtain a good flame.
