Damage Part - No Replacement

I was excited to get this fire pit because it matches my patio furniture. It was difficult to assemble with the help of my son. I can't imagine doing this alone. The last part to assemble was attaching the knob to the lid. The threads inside the knob are a mess and I couldn't install the screw in it. I completed my warranty card and waited for them to receive it and then contacted customer service. They said they do not carry the knob as a replacement part. They offered another knob which was a completely different style and would not lay flat like the matching knob. I asked for a replacement lid which is supposed to be a replacement part according to the manual and should include the knob. They didn't have that either. So now I can't put the lid on correctly because it would be hard to get out of the recessed area and I have a piece of tape over the hole where the knob belongs.
