    I had purchased one of these some time ago and was able to use it to plant bushes and to dig a 20-foot trench. I mounted it onto my 3/8th inch drill and dug away. It worked perfectly and saved me hours of digging. It is important that you brace yourself for roots or rocks in the ground, so that your drill doesn't twist your hands off! They don't warn you about that, but it does seem to be common sense. The reason I purchased these two new ones is because the pin that you stick into your drill is the Achilles heel because it is so much thinner than the main drill shaft, so it can shear off as you encounter a rock or a root. Mine twisted and bent until I got the hang of it. I did straighten it, but it has been weakened by the bending. At this price, there is no reason not to keep a couple in reserve. You can go down quite a bit into the ground as you dig around. I dug a nice post hole about 18 inches down with no problem. As you loosen the soil, it is important that you remove the loose soil from the hole to enable you to dig down.
