API ALGAEFIX algae control effectively controls many types of algae in aquariums and will not harm to your fish or plants when used as directed. You can use ALGAEFIX algae control as part of your aquarium maintenance routine to control the formation of new algae. Weekly doses will control algae growth and reduce aquarium maintenance. CAUTION: Do not use with freshwater crustaceans including shrimp, crabs, and lobsters.

  • Add 1 ml. for each 10 gallons or 5 ml. for each 50 gallons of aquarium water. Repeat dose every three days until algae is controlled. Siphon or scrape any dead algae from aquarium. Once algae growth is under control, add one dose per week. Weekly doses will control algae growth and reduce aquarium maintenance.
  • Caution: Do not use with freshwater crustaceans, including shrimp, crabs and lobsters

Works but possibly harmful to snails

I did not use this product more than once. It did seem to help with the algae but it seemed harmful to my snail. It could be unrelated but my snail started laying upside down at the bottom of the tank in the same spot for days. I thought it was dead. But then it would be in a different spot. I finally saw it move one day so it is alive but it is no longer as active as it used to be. It could have just been a coincidence but I am not taking any more chances. There was no smell and it was easy to use and seemed like it was doing what it was supposed to but I'm not sure if it is snail safe.

Took care of the problem

We have a small fish aquarium that often gets algae, and this product took care of it. We have an algae eater fish as well, but adding this along with the algae eater fish took care of it all. Definitely recommend!

The cap is also a measuring cup. Algaefix helps control algae growth and works fast. Keeps aquariums clear and clean. The active ingredients are harmless to fish. Great for tanks or ponds.
