American FarmWorks Underground Cable, 50 ft., UGC50 is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Done the job Done the job and was a good price, i would prefer copper but it was expensive.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Inadequate insulation. Leaks voltage I bought this by mistake for an electric fence, to run underground, past a gate. I have a heavy duty fence charger, measures 9600 volts. Voltmeter clamped to the outside of this wire registers 300 volts. Especially after a rain, you can feel a zap on the gate just from leaking under ground. Get the double insulated wire, with a white plastic layer underneath the black outside coating, for this application. This wire should probably be buried inside a plastic pipe. Insulation will crack after a few years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great wire Bought this a couple months ago, and it was cheaper than some of the places I checked online. Does a fabulous job. If I need to expand my ground system I’ll definitely be buying this again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It Works I used this on two applications on my property the first one was to extend a live wire across a Gate underground and in this application it totally failed. It was constantly shorting out. II application I used it to go from the ground wire underground to the charger where it is working perfectly

Is the plastic sheath rated for outdoor exposure, i.e.. have UV resistance (especially from sunlight)? If so what is the life expectancy and where was it tested (any UL listing), what life can one expect in the NE part of the US?

Asked by: MMAhorseX2
This wire is made of PE resin with UV resistance and anti-aging inhibitor for outdoor use. Life expectancy is over a year, but there is no test record beyond that.

I need to make a ~70 ft run with this cable, so 50 ft is not long enough. If practical, what type of connector should be used to join sections of this wire together for added length?

Asked by: fieldman59
We recommend either twisting the ends of the wire together after stripping back the insulation or using a Galvanized Line Clamp (model 07110-96). We also sell insulated wire in 125 ft lengths. Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-ZAREBA (1-855-592-7322) with any questions.

This wire is recommended for use as a connecting line between the charger and the fence and the charger and the grounding. It can also be used to link fences together that are separated by gates.

Is this a direct bury wire? Or do I need to put it in pipe or something? Can I use it to run through the siding of the barn or do I need an insulating tubing there?

Asked by: Farmer dan
This wire can be directly buried or run through a building and does not need to be run through additional insulation tube.
