Rated 5 out of 5 by from My dogs love it We were looking for a no grain dog food with less calories. Thankfully there is this 4 health product for all our adult dogs ranging in age from 5,7 & 13years. They love eating it and are doing well on it. Their skin and coat look great And they have great energy. I give this product a five star rating because it has achieved what I expected in a good dog food.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doggie needed a low fat diet My doggie needed a low fat diet (because of eye problems) and my vet recommended some very high priced low fat dog foods. I had used other 4Health dog food and my dogs loved it. Bought the weight management 4Health because it is low fat -- and my dog loves it! Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great dogfood Switched from another dogfood and had no issues. Hoping to help my german shepherds lose weight. They love this food!
Date published: 2019-01-04
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works! Our vet recommended that we use a weight management dog food because one of our Aussies has a bad hip and knee. After surgery our dog was put on a weight management diet to relieve overweight pressure on her joints. She lost close to 10 pounds and loves the food. The other Aussie gets small bites from 4 Health. Both dogs are active and happy. I originally compared ingredients in many brands of food when we first got thesendogs. We love Tractor Supply and the dogs love to come in the store with me to get their food!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Didn't really work for us. My dog likes it ok, but she isn't losing any weight, and I have lowered her intake a lot. I have to put stuff in with the food to make her eat it though.
Date published: 2018-11-01
Rated 5 out of 5 by from safe quality pet food i order 4health every 2 months for my dog who is on a restricted diet. they have the widest selection of specialty diet pet foods.
Date published: 2018-10-31
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good food for weight management Good, limited ingredient food for weight management. My bulldog was able to switch from the 4-Health Turkey and Potato to this without any issues. He has been on this for about 6 weeks now and has lost 4 pounds. He seems to be satisfied after each feeding and does not act like he is hungry in between feedings. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because it can be difficult to find in store in my area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low fat--good for why I need it My German shepherd has mild irritable bowel syndrome, and she needs lower fat foods (doesn't need a prescription diet). I actually need for her to gain weight, but not with added fat. It's working. And she loves it--wolfs it down. Very happy with this product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Would have been Great, BUT bad ingredient I was really looking forward to this new weight management food, 4Health is a great brand usually, BUT after getting it home and about 4 0r 5 meals later for my girl I noticed some things with her stool, even when switching food a good dog food WILL NOT cause issues. this product uses "Powdered Cellulose" as a fiber ingredient to make the dog feel full, "not good'! this is actually ground up wood chips or saw dust used as a FILLER, shouldn't be allowed in any dog food! , sorry I can NOT recommend this, needs to be removed as an ingredient IF you want to continue this bag. thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Product I have a Australian Cattle Dog and they are prone to gaining weight easily. As a employee of TSC I decided to put her on the weight management Special Care. I have had her on this food for over two months and she is doing great! She loves the food plus her coat and weight look wonderful. I am very pleased and recommend it to anyone who owns a dog that may be susceptible to weight gain.

I don't see calorie content anywhere. How many calories per cup? I thought 1st ingredient should be REAL lamb (or REAL meat) not Lamb MEAL, (or chicken meal etc....) are there probotics & prebotics, those are very important too!

Asked by: Nicky831
279 kcals/cup. Lamb Meal is dehydrated, concentrated lamb meat. It is about 200 times higher in protein than "lamb", which contains a large amount of water. Each bag of 4health dog food formula provides species-specific probiotics to specifically aid digestion and modulate the immune system of canines.

Do ANY of the ingredients come from China? Also, what is the Maximum % of fat? And finally, why use powdered cellulose? Is there not a better alternative? Thank you.

Asked by: OKKathy
4health Special Care Weight Management Formula for Adult Dogs contains 7% fat, based on an as-fed basis. Powdered cellulose is a plant fiber source. This ingredient is highly refined, a white powder that provides insoluble fiber to the diet. Our foods are manufactured in five facilities, all in the United States. Two are located in California, one in Missouri, one in Arkansas and one in South Carolina. We use some ingredients that are not USA sourced, like flaxseed and barley, both which originate in Canada and lamb and lamb meal from New Zealand and Australia, potato protein from Germany and dried chicory root from Belgium. There are ingredients that are critical to our formulations (i.e. folic acid and taurine) that can only be sourced out of China. Our choice is to either include these ingredients or manufacture our foods without them, which would not be in the best interest of your pet, in our view. Some pet food companies are making “China-Free” claims despite the facts I’ve outlined above. They accomplish this by utilizing a loophole in European law. European laws allow for ingredients purchased outside their continent, then reprocessed in Europe, to be labeled with European origin. We could likewise hide behind that loophole in the law, and tell you what you want to hear, but choose not to for obvious reasons. I’d rather you not feed our foods than to tell you they are China-free, when they are not.

I have a spaniel who at his correct weight. My vet suggested finding a food that has a higher fiber content because of EAG problems, which this does. Would this be OK to feed. Glad it has taurine & dl methionine because of breed deficiency.

Asked by: Spaniel Lady
The recommendation is to consult with your dog's veterinarian to see if they feel this would be a good fit for your dog. This formula does have a max 10% crude fiber.

Where is this product made? Most of your dog food states produced or made in the USA, but not this one.

What is the difference between your “weight management” and “healthy weight” product. I have 2 rescues that are older and need to lose weight. Which would be better? I was considering mixing the 2? We have a beagle mix (13), shepherd/retriever age 8/9.

Asked by: Joselyn
Both recipes are a great option for overweight pets and specifically formulated to meet the nutritional needs of overweight dogs. The main difference between the two recipes are the protein sources: 4health Healthy Weight contains chicken; whereas, the 4health Special Care Weight Management contains lamb meal.
