Rated 2 out of 5 by from I thought I found a treat my dogs could have I buy 4Health grain-free dry and canned food for my 3 dogs and they do well on these products. I search for treats that are grain-free. When I purchased Hip & Joint, they loved it. It smelled strongly of smoke flavoring, BEST BY date of 05/14/2019. I had given them a 1-2" piece once a day for 3 days, when one of the females was found asleep in a puddle of urine. The next afternoon the other female was found lying in a puddle of urine. Neither dog acted sick. They weigh 18 and 20 lbs. The 34-lb male was unaffected. Since throwing the product away, all dogs have been fine. I assume that the artificial smoke flavoring is the problem, and I will not buy this product again.

My dog weighs about 70 pounds. What would be the recommended number of treats to give him?

There are 16 calories per treat; although each dog’s daily allowed caloric amount may vary due to a dog’s breed, age, health, etc., The recommended daily allowance is 6 treats per day for each 25lb of a dog’s total weight.
