I have honey bee swarm trap boxes hanging in a couple of trees at the back of my property. I have been quite successful in that we caught 6 swarms this summer. These traps have 5 deep frames in them and when you catch a big swarm and they start making honey, the trap box can get pretty heavy. The traps are about 12 feet up in the tree and to get them down I have a rope thrown over a branch, but the rope with the trap full of bees didn't like sliding over the branch. So to get the bees down, I wait for dark and go out to the trap and put a piece of duct tape over the entry hole. This contains the bees and then I lower the trap down to the ground for relocating them. I bought this pulley from Tractor Supply...wow what a huge difference, the trap lowers to the ground so easy, makes this part of the job so easy and a lot safer for me and the bees. They don't get jerked around hardly at all now.
