    Q&As

    1 - 10 of 150 Questions

Q: Does this work well for etching glass? I usually use aluminum oxide 120 grit but the place I got it no longer carries it looking for a replacement. I etch borosilicate glass and need to be able to have fine detail.

    1 Answer
    • A: This is not an application that we are familiar with enough to make a confident recommendation. Our fine blend product sold at TSC stores could work but it will be a little more coarse than the 120 grit you were using. Please email info@us-minerals.com for any additional information.

Q: Would this product be good for removing paint from a plastic bumper? If not, can you recommend one

    1 Answer
    • A: No, Black Diamond blasting abrasive is not suitable for removing paint from a plastic bumper. It is made from coal slag and is far too aggressive and hard for use on plastics. It would likely melt, warp, or severely damage the bumper's surface, leaving a rough and unusable texture. For removing paint from a plastic bumper, a softer, less aggressive blasting medium is required. The best option available at Tractor Supply Co. is the Agra-Grit 50 lb. Walnut Shell Blasting Grit, Fine. Walnut shells are a natural, non-toxic, and biodegradable media that is hard enough to strip paint but gentle enough to not damage the underlying plastic surface.

Not good but works good if you prepare it.

My tractor supply throws all the blast media in all the spaces for fine medium and coarse There is no labels on the bag so you dont know what grade you are getting. Using it strait from the bag wont work unless you have a serious heavy duty sandblaster. There are to many big pieces that will clog the average gun let alone the crap guns they sell there. You will have to take a window screen and filter out all the big stuff and you will be left with perfect size pieces for your gun but half the amount, it will work that way and if it doesnt you have a poor setup. Would I buy it again, HELL NO. Buy some quality media thats filtered perfect for you gun and pressure, glass beads will flow a lot smoother put more stuff on the part and be quicker. Tractor supply needs to get this crap off the floor along with there crap blast cabinets and guns!

I ordered this at the Port Orchard store. Got to the store didn’t have. Check the Silverdale store they said they had it, I ordered it for pick up. Got there they again didn’t have. I needed to get the job at home done, so I took the substitute grit. Had a horrible time using it. Got the job done. Dumped the remaining grit. Find a new supplier that will have the correct grit when I show up for it. 2 stores terrible service.

Product would not run through tip of sand blaster. Continued to clog tip. I used 2 bags that work ok then got some that had larger pieces and was useless.

    Mislabeled

I have used this product for years. I bought 4 bags and when I went to use it, I found that it was a medium grit not fine grit. Usually the words fine grit are right on the packaging. This time it was not. We bought online and picked up at the store. The manager remembered me seeking this product another time and said usually it has fine grit displayed on the packaging. She was very kind and refunded my purchase even though one bag was open.
