Q: Does it harm wildlife
3 months ago- A: Zep Root Killer can be very harmful to wildlife, particularly fish and frogs, because it usually contains copper sulfate which is highly toxic to aquatic environments. While it is safe for land animals when contained inside your pipes, it poses a major risk if it leaks into nearby ponds, streams, or storm drains. To protect local wildlife, you must strictly follow the label instructions and ensure the product never comes into direct contact with the ground or open water.3 months agoHelpful?

Q: Does this product effect the bacteria in septic tanks?
a year ago- A: Hi, Here is the information we received from our vendor- "The Zep Root Kill when added to an active 300 gallon septic tank at 2 pounds per treatment will temporarily reduce bacterial action, but it will return to normal approximately 15 days after treatment. Please refer to the label directions for proper and effective usage regarding septic tanks and leach lines."a year agoHelpful?
Q: We do not have a septic system, we live in town and our plumbing is attached to the municipal sewer system. A plumber told us that we have tree roots in our pipes. Can we use this, or is it only for septic systems and leach fields?

Q: No directions for use. Is it flushable?
2 years ago- A: When a reduced water flow is first noticed, and root growth is thought to be the cause, treat with product. It is important not to wait until a stoppage occurs because some water flow is necessary to move copper sulfate to the area of the root growth. Usually, within 3 to 4 weeks, after roots have accumulated sufficient copper sulfate, the roots will die and begin to decay and water flow should increase. As the roots regrow, follow up treatments with copper sulfate will be required. Applications may be made each year in the spring after plant growth begins, during late summer or early fall, or any time a reduced water flow, thought to be caused by root growth, occurs. Apply 2 to 6 pounds of product two times a year to household sewers. Add product to sewer lines by pouring about 1/2 pound increments into the toilet bowl nearest the sewer line and flush, repeat this process until the recommended dose has been added, or remove cleanout plug and pour entire recommended quantity directly into the sewer line. Replace the plug and flush the toilet several times. Pro-Tip: To maintain normal water flow in your drains, use this product twice a year as a preventative maintenance treatment against slow or clogged drains.
