This little mixer is all you need, as a homeowner. Perfect for your needs. Unfortunately learned it the hard way. Rented one from HD, for a day ended up paying $100.

New mixer failure

Ordered this mixer online. It came with days as promised. Was relatively easy to assemble. I started using it. I put in a 60 lb bag of concrete which it stated was the limitation. The first bag mixed beautifully, no issues. While mixing the second bag on this brand new mixer, the drum stopped turning while the motor continued to run. I took the cover off the motor and saw that the belt AND the pulley had come off the shaft. I was surprised that I could not see any way for the pulley, which is plastic, to be secured to the motor shaft. Nevertheless, I put everything back together and started it. It immediately came off again. I contacted customer support and explained what happened. They asked for some pictures, which I sent. They responded back that the pulley appeared to be damaged and would send me a new one under warranty. I am currently awaiting for it to arrive. I asked twice how the pulley is secured and never got an answer. Maybe I will find out when the new pulley arrives. Until then, I cannot recommend. I hope it works because I actually like the mixer. But I was extremely disappointed this happened on a brand new mixer on the second mix.

Great little machine!

I used this YARDMAX 1.6 cu ft Concrete Mixer for the first time today. I mixed and poured 5 60lb bags of concrete for a small job. In the past, I've always mixed my concrete in a wheelbarrow. That's a lot of work, and hard to make sure to get all the dry mix included. Not so with this little gem. Though I only mixed one bag at a time, I was impressed with how well it did the job. Easy to dump into a 5 gallon bucket for small jobs like mine today. Easy to clean out afterward with the garden hose.
Assembly was straightforward, and I like the fact that each set of fasteners was blister-packed according to the installation step. All the parts are heavy gauge steel. The mixer is small and light, easy to move around and doesn't take up much space. If you mostly do small jobs with just a few bags, this unit is highly recommended.
