Wyoming Traders Men's Ranch Wool Coat

I bought this coat recently and have been wearing it for a month during Wisconsin Winters. The coat is 100% wool shell (22oz wool is the extreme cold weather class for wool clothing). It is extremely warm, yet breathable. I have worn it on outdoor hikes during high wind and below freezing ambient temperatures, and have been completely comfortable and warm. My hands always get cold, even with the warmest gloves, but the hand warmer pockets on this coat are warmer than ANY gloves I have ever owned. The collar stands up to shield the neck from winds (similar to a Navy Pea Coat). There are an abundance of well placed pockets as well, and seems well made and durable, yet soft to the touch. The only reason I gave a 4, is because of the sizing. I am a 6 foot 2 male, weighing 180 pounds. As such, I have long arms, but a slender chest. I normally wear size medium; however, the size medium coat is much too bug in the chest and the arms are almost too short. If they had offered a size Small-Tall, that would have probably fit perfectly; however, that was not an option.

After 15 years of relying on the same Burton Ski Coat for my primary Michigan-winter outerwear, I finally started doing my research this fall on a quality wool replacement for it. I found what I was looking for in both the Schaeffer Outfitter and Wyoming Traders brands. For a limited time, the Schaeffer Outfitter Men's Cattle King Wool Coat was marked down considerably, especially combined with their generous 10% Off first-time buyer discount (code: HOWDY). However, after the pre-season sale ended, the price jumped back up to $345 (plus tax, of course), which was a bit out of my budget. Granted, it's probably a life-long investment, given the high quality, but still a bit steep for me. Then, I came across the Wyoming Traders version of the same coat. The only noticeable differences were the velcro (Wyoming Traders) versus logo-imprinted (Schaeffer) snap pocket closures and the leather piping around the yoke on the Schaeffer version. Otherwise, they are nearly identical coats, made of 22-ounce (heavy!) Australian wool, with interior drawstring waist cord, riding flaps, double-reverse YKK zipper, etc. All in all, just what I was looking for. I also own a canvas vest from Wyoming Traders, as well as the vest version of their Ranch Wool Coat (with the lambskin collar and piping, as well), so I was already familiar with their sizing. In researching the Schaeffer Cattle King Wool Coat, I found a ton of reviews that mentioned having to return or replace their coats because their sizing was inaccurate—mostly, the coat runs large with shorter sleeves—despite the item description insisting the item runs "True to size." It simply was not true. I even called the company directly, and despite many reviews extolling the "excellence and friendliness" of their customer service team, I personally did not find this to be true. So ultimately, I decided on the WT Ranch Wool Coat, which at the time was selling at full price on their website for $246-248, depending on size. I wear a small at 5'5", 135#, and Men's 30 waist size. I happened to do one final web browser search (I use Duck Duck Go, not Google!), and found it for $219.99 on Tractor Supply with Free Shipping, saving me about $30 in the end. They shipped it within a couple days and it arrived within a week of ordering it. I've only worn this coat a couple times so far, but with all the bells and whistles it has to offer, I know I've made an invaluable investment in choosing the Wyoming Traders Ranch Wool Coat and Tractor Supply as the vendor. I even reached out to my Tractor Supply Store down the road with a couple questions about the coat and online ordering with them, and their staff could not have been nicer or more knowledgable. I would highly recommend this Men's Wool Coat, and I can definitely put my name behind the Tractor Supply Company and Wyoming Traders brands. You will not be disappointed with this purchase.

Coat was exactly as stated perfect fit, cold days a horseback stayed very warm and comfortable would recommend for anyone

What a coat and what a deal. When I started looking for a thick wool coat I was a little taken back on the prices. When I stumbled upon this I wasn't expecting much due to price. Upon receiving delivery I was blown away....Still don't know how they do it for the price. I live in Cheyenne Wy so cold and wind is the norm in the winter. Zero felt wind through this coat. It does run a touch big but that's good for layering. I'm 6'4" 214lbs and ordered a XL tall.
