When the worst extreme cold stretch since 1977 recently hit here in southern Ohio, our standard donkey showed that he was too cold for the first time ever. I searched extensively online for a blanket to fit him, but only mini-donkeys seem to be represented in blanket sizes. I put our smallest horse blanket on him that had fit our Paso Fino, but even it was way too large and the hang was dangerously low to leave unsupervised. Then I looked at foal blankets and measured him (~59"), settling on the 57" since it was the largest size. It fits him so well and he wore it for over two weeks straight until temps finally went back to normal. It is very well-made and sturdy material, standing up to his frequent lie down time and even a few rolls. Donkeys hate wet weather and it is waterproof so he felt he could come out to eat and drink and not be miserable when it rained. I highly recommend this blanket for standard donkeys and am sure it works great for foals also!
