Actually very nice

I've had this for two years now. It is made of wood, so like ANYTHING made of wood, if you are going to leave it in the direct sun and weather you will want to keep water seal or similar on it. I keep mine under an open deck ceiling, but have had it out on the deck for extended periods during both wet and dry seasons. I am just thinking about touching it up now for the first time. I'm going to freshen up the stain and seal it. My dog is a smaller Belgian Shepherd and has more room than he needs - he's probably 45 lbs. I like that you can open the roof to clean it out and it makes it easy to put in a dog bed. it's also easy to clamp a light to the wall under the roof for a bit of winter heat. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat... perhaps in ten years if this one wears out by then...

Looks great but will not hold up.

I was excited to get this dog house because of the size. I have a Great Dane and he needs a large house to say the least. I waited to write this review to see if it would fair better than other reviews that I have seen. Unfortunately, the house will not hold up a large breed dog. It would probably be best suited for a medium dog such as a collie or something under 60 pounds. I now have to buy another house because this one is not built well. I will go with the igloo style now. Lesson learned.

this will hold up & last if you do some extras!!!!

i think I bought mine at least 10 years ago.. yes you have to tighten screws and even put extras in but I have 3 mixed dogs that total 200+ pounds and they all jam them selves in and it rumbles and shakes.. they love laying on the roof to grab some nap time sun or be the neighborhood look out!!! over the years the roof rotted & sagged ( but 200+ pounds of dogs on it all of the time would do that) but I cut a good size piece of heavy duty ply board and painted & sealed it it as I do each year with the house using exterior paint, sand the chewed door opening at times & the edge of the roof top from their nails. also I put outdoor carpet inside... and an old chaise mat on top where they lay since it's level with the stair landing so they just walk onto it.. so I will be getting a new one to put on the other side.. yes it needs some tlc & reinforcing but mine's 10+ years old and been through 5 dogs so far. once you get it at least put a sealer on it to help it hold up then each year throw some exterior paint & seal and tighten & probably add some extra screws/nails to minimize the wobble... lay some outdoor carpet tiles inside and an old outdoor cushion and your pups will love it. ( we call the roof "the penthouse") haha

I would buy it again!

I have had this dog house for about a month now. In my opinion it is well worth the price tag. Assembly was a breeze and the material may seem flimsy during assembly but once all together it feels alot sturdier. Other dog houses similar to this size are quite a bit more expensive.

Seems flimsy

We have had this house for two years. In spite of it feeling flimsy, it has held up well.

Good house

I have this house for 4 years, I insulated it and closed the opening to a 6" hole for our 3 so called feral cats. Filled with straw and self warming pad in winter our guys were toasty warm in sub zero weather. I will probably put a stain and sealer on this summer. The only problem is the hinges popped out but the roof is heavy enough for it not to matter
