Q: Can this be used on a giant breed such as a Newfoundland or Saint Bernard? It says ideal for small dogs and cats but it’s supposed to be quiet which is why i want to try it.

Q: Which opening on the guard do you use for nail trimming

  • A: The Wahl Nail Smoother holes are used based on size of dogs nail. Our recommendation is to use the hole the nail just fits through and allows the user to round the nail. If you use too big a hole, the nail moves around to much and can allow hair to get pulled in. Q: What is the size / diameter of the grinding part?   Is it small enough to get UNDER the nail, between the nail & the skin on a small dog?

  • A: The bands are sized large (about 1/4 inch around). We recommend using just the top edge to round the nail, so it should work for any breed. If it is a longer hair breed, we recommend holding the hair back with your hand while using the nail smoother to avoid catching hair.

It makes nail cutting more precise. The comfort knowing that we won’t cut too short and hurt any of our dogs. It is a quiet piece of equipment and it makes the nails smooth when we are finished

This a worthless. The motor has zero torque. You barely apply it to the dog's nail and the motor stalls out. A total waste of money!
