Our national attention is turning to climate change. All the data say it's crunch time, and that plants are essential for building communities that can withstand these changes. A 2016 report from the EPA explored ways green infrastructure can improve community resiliency. Experts and stakeholders outlined strategies to help communities prepare for and mitigate the effects of climate change. Strategies included managing flood risk, reducing urban heat island effects, and decreasing the energy needed to manage water. Ornamental grasses and sedges can be part of the answer in all the case studies cited in the EPA report. Grasses and sedges anchor the plantings that help clean our water, reduce flooding, and lessen the effects of rising temperatures. Let's work towards a better environment.
Miscanthus sinensis 'Adagio' produces fine-textured, narrow leaves and grows in a stylish, compact, rounded shape. At four feet, five with bloom, this dwarf Miscanthus is sought-after for small patios and gardens. Dwarf Maiden Grass is also prized for use in borders and massed plantings, or as a foreground for larger Maiden Grass cultivars. It puts on a lovely display in late summer when fan-shaped, rose-colored flowers rise above the foliage. Leaves turn a beautiful burgundy shade in fall. Dwarf Maiden Grass can be left standing for winter interest; cut back in spring before new growth appears. The cultivar name 'Adagio' comes from the Italian ad agio, meaning "at ease," a term used in music and ballet to signify slow movements. Miscanthus sinensis 'Adagio' certainly complies as it dances with the slightest wind. Cute Grass

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this VanZyverden Ornamental Grass a few weeks ago. As you can see from my pictures it's not growing very quickly. I expect it should be full grown by the end of summer or it might not get to that size until next spring. It's a cute little bit of grass right now. I love the picture of the final product. It should look great in my front stone area. I'm very happy with my ornamental grass.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Maiden Grass

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The grass arrived and was packed nicely in a sturdy box. It's very healthy with some greenery and I can't wait to see it grow! I love the fact that this plant is drought tolerant. Normally, we get a lot of rain in the midwest but not in the past few summers. I've ordered a lot of plants from Van Zyverden and they're always well packaged and beautiful. My favorite is their double hollyhocks. They're absolute stunners and I have no doubt this ornamental grass will be just as beautiful. I'm very happy! If I can add a photo later this summer, I will!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Excited to Watch it Grow!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This grass came in a dormant state. If you look at the photo I uploaded you can see what it will look like. I planted this a few days ago and I can already see it coming to life. This came with a card that showed what it will look like when grown as well as care instructions. I can't wait to watch this grow! It's going to be a wonderful centerpiece in my garden.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Came Covered with Ants

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The plant is nice, and I appreciate the fact that it is dormant and can be mailed, but when I opened it, ants were EVERYWHERE. I put it on the back porch for a day or so and the ants dissipated, but I wish I hadn't opened it inside. The instructions were a little vague for someone who doesn't know much about plants, but I followed them. Hopefully the ants didn't damage the roots.

No, I do not recommend this product.
