The Troy-Bilt Pony 16 in. 250cc Gas Garden Tiller is designed to make soil preparation easy, year after year, and it comes with a limited lifetime warranty on the transmission. It features a cast-iron gear casing and precision bronze gears, which help turn soil quickly in medium to large gardens. The Troy-Bilt tiller has 12-in. steel tines that slice, chop and turn soil up to 7 in. deep. The 16 in. tilling width makes the Pony ideal for medium-to-large-size gardens, allowing you to move through soil quickly. A 250cc Briggs & Stratton engine powers through soil and is protected by a front bumper. Power reverse and 13 in. agricultural tires are designed for flexible handling around rocks and other obstacles.

Poor tiller poor quality tiller

I have had craftsman tillers in the past this is not near as user friendly, It leaks oil brand new.

Still the best RotoTiller after decades!

My grandfather bought a similar RotoTiller in the 1970's. As a teenager, I happily drove that tiller around the family vegetable garden.
Recently, I needed to help my mother till that garden after a few years of neglect. I bought another brand of tiller, threw it away after the blades jammed up with weeds in seconds. I should have bought this tiller on the first go around. Assembly was about 20 minutes. The motor fired up on the first pull of the rip cord. I completed tilling a plot of 30' by 30' in an hour chopping through the roots of all the weeds.
One word of caution. The tines are so powerful that when you engage deeper roots, the tiller CAN lurch forward unexpectedly. As long as you lean back against the handles and control the bucking, weed roots don't stand a chance.

Use only in soft dirt. Not a safe design.

Use this tiller only in soft dirt. If it hits hard dirt, it will lurch forward and it is easy to lose control of it. It is built way too light to be able to breakup harder dirt. Also, the tines on this spin way too fast. I have owned a Econo Horse Troy built tiller for over 30 years and it has been a fantastic, well-built machine. The motor and gear box did finally give out. If I could return the new one and get my money back, I would and do anything I could to repair the old one. Newer is not better.

Piece of junk!

This is the worst tiller I have ever seen. The design is terrible. To adjust the speed, you have to stop and go around to the front of the tiller to adjust it. Adjusting the tines is horrible. I can barely move the lever to adjust, it's so hard. I've had a Troy Bilt Horse for over 60 years. It's been wonderful and I've only needed to replace a few parts over this time period. Unfortunately it's age has finally caught up with it. This new pony is cheaply made and is very hard to handle. It constantly gets away from me. Also, having to lift the handle to start the wheels and tines is very awkward.
No, I do not recommend this product.
