Q: When it says it requires a ballasted fixture, I assume that means that the bulb would be a direct replacement for a mercury vapor bulb with it's ballast left in.

I bought this overhead lighting system a couple of years ago and it has come in very handy. The bulb when you can find one, is easy to put in and take out.
