These screws are heavy-duty wood fasteners used to tightly hold the structural bones of a house together. I understand what these are used for, they lock the roof rafters or trusses down onto the top of the wall framing so the roof cannot lift off during high winds, replacing the standard metal bracket hardware.They do the job of traditional metal "hurricane clips" or framing ties. A single screw does it all. Why would a builder like me use them for 1, no pre-drilling!!! They cut right into the wood without splitting it, saving a step and saving time. We own a construction company and Spax makes wonderful screws for our everyday projects - better than nails and screws - no pre drilling needed - excellent and heavy duty - works wonders and replaces 2 items you use daily. Easy to install!

This is a labor saver! We're remodeling contractor and any task that can be done in a more productive manner, without sacrificing quality, we are all about it. The SPAX powerlags work extremely well. I was able to install them with one hand. They they start pretty easily . You do have to hold it a little perpendicular until it starts to bite, and then you can adjust to the angle that you want. The instructions also are well written with easy to follow instructions. Be sure to use a high torque low speed drill and not a driver drill. They smoothly and easily went through the wood and can flush or set below the surface. The bit is very sharp and the head is is not too large. I'd highly recommend them for securing rafters or truss to top plates . I love that you don't have to pre-drill even though in some woods, you might have to to avoid splitting.

The t30+ Star Plus drive engages perfectly eliminating cam out and stripping completely even under maximum torque. The strength and resistance are incredible.
